Wines produced under our ZDAR label represent the very best of the Josef Chromy Wines' estate. These wines are only produced in those rare years when the star's align to bring together optimum conditions for both growing and winemaking. Very limited quantity and aged prior to release.
Dark garnet in colour, the 2014 ZDAR Pinot Noir shows lifted aromas of sweet, dark chocolate, whole bunch spice and dark cherry fruit offset with hints of cinnamon and toasty oak.
The palate is juicy and rounded, with fine, chalky tannin and hints of chocolate and cherry freshness. The structured mouthfeel showcases seamless integration of ripe Pinot Noir fruit and subtle oak character.
The finest estate fruit is hand-picked and small-batch fermented with 35% whole bunches. Secondary malolactic fermentation occurs in French oak barriques and the wine is matured in barrel for a further 11 months prior to bottling. This release has been aged in bottle for 5 years in temperature controlled conditions, and will reward further cellaring to 2026.

Intense straw colour with hints of green, the 2014 ZDAR Chardonnay shows creamy wild-ferment complexity and layers of toast and nut on the nose.
The palate is full and rich, balanced by tight citrus acidity, fine tannins and hints of oatmeal to a lingering finish.
The finest estate fruit is hand-picked, gently pressed and the juice is placed directly into French oak barriques with no settling or fining. Weekly barrel stirring during fermentation adds texture, palate weight and complexity. The wine is aged in oak for 12 months prior to bottling. This release has been aged in bottle for 5 years in temperature controlled conditions, and will reward further cellaring to at least 2025.
