An array of 400 solar panels tops the Josef Chromy Winery, the largest private installation in Tasmania. The panels generate 60-85% of the winery's electricity needs depending on the season. For the balance of our electricity needs, we purchase 100% renewable electricity from our provider.

Vineyard

All grape marc is windrow composted onsite and re-applied in the vineyard, all glass and cardboard waste is recycled, and winery wastewater is treated and stored on site for re-use in the vineyard.

Vineyard

We practice low-input viticulture, monitoring soil moisture to inform drip irrigation, applying targeted fertiliser application through the irrigation system, and maintaining a diverse herbaceous layer in the inter-row to harbour beneficial insects, protect the soil and increase organic matter.
